Flood Sensor

Affordable, battery-powered, wirelessly connected. Placed on the floor next to risk points and raises an alarm the moment water reaches its contact probes.

Flood Sensor

Also known as: Water alarm · Water detector · Flood alarm · Wassermelder · Leak alarm · Floor water sensor

The Flood Sensor is the classic floor sensor: small, battery-powered, wirelessly connected. It's placed at the typical risk points around the house — next to washing machine and dishwasher, under the sink, in utility rooms, near the hot-water tank. Two contact probes at the bottom continuously measure electrical resistance: the moment water bridges the probes, an alarm is sent.

The strength here is reliability and simplicity: no cables, no pairing rituals, no regular recharging. On a standard battery the Flood Sensor typically runs for several years and reports its battery level to the app in time.

Where to place the Flood Sensor

Water damage nearly always originates from the same handful of spots. A Flood Sensor at each risk source is the cheapest and most effective safeguard:

  • Next to or behind the washing machine and dishwasher
  • Under the sink and the kitchen trap
  • In utility and laundry rooms with water connections
  • On the floor next to the hot-water tank or water softener
  • In front of visible water connections and valves

Leak protection with no internet at all

The Flood Sensor can be paired with any Monitor or Sonic Clamp — or directly with an Aqua-Scope shut-off motor. That makes a fully autonomous leak-protection system possible — no Wi-Fi, no internet, no cloud. Sensor and motor talk to each other over LoRa Direct; in the event of a leak, the motor closes the main line in seconds.

Exactly this configuration is what our bundle KFRFLO01 ships: a KFR motor plus Flood Sensor as a ready-to-install kit for an offline-capable standard installation.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Flood Sensor detect?
Standing or flowing water at floor level via two contact probes on its base. It raises an alarm the moment water bridges the probes.
Where should I place a flood sensor?
Under washing machines, dishwashers, water heaters and sinks — anywhere a leak would show up on the floor first.
Does the flood sensor need Wi-Fi?
No. It uses LoRaWAN. A small LoRaWAN gateway covers a whole house, or the sensor talks LoRa Direct to an Aqua-Scope Water Guard.
How long does the battery last?
Several years on a standard cell. Battery level is reported to the app before a replacement is needed.
Will pets or humidity trigger a false alarm?
No — the probes only close when actual water bridges them; ambient humidity is not enough.
